Interesting Stuff||015

• Tutorial: How to paint red hair (or strawberry blonde) by Bobby Chiu - it's only 8 mins long and comes with exercise file and colour swatches so there is no excuse for skipping a practice part.
• Design Cinema Ep83: Designing with Silhouettes - I guess key word of this episode is 'spaceship' :) This vid is in real-time and Feng Zhu shows another approach for creating quick thumbnails/silhouettes
• Ross Draws YouTube Channel  - recently a guest of a LevelUp! stream, he also started YT channel with funky videos showing him paint and abuse color dodge :) Seriously, he's so funny, go check his channel now :)

If you follow my twitter or tumblr you probably seen some of these sketches. I've started doing them recently as a way to warm up and play with stylization. Also I feel like my portfolio is lacking character concepts for some reasons (and thats my comfy comfort zone, how bizzare!) so I'm hoping to get more of these done soon, plus color my fav ones.

Went to cinema yesterday to watch Minions - what a good movie! And baby friendly screenings at Odeon are also good - light isn't horribly blinding bright and they offer free coffee and biscuits :) Only sound could be a little bit lower, Ali got really scared during InsideOut trailer. Nevertheless, we got option now to watch any movie we want :D They are screening Terminator: Genesys next week but that doesn't really interest me much. I enjoyed first two movies, other sequels were bad and I just don't want to waste my time.

Enough about movies! I made this little Minion/Mike Wazowski egg thingy today. First, I thought, what the heck em I doing. But then I ended up liking it and might even do more. Oh and the neat description from my S6 store:

One of the silly Minions decided to take a little break from Gru and search for the new master. For some reasons he ended up in Monster University and thought of James P. "Sulley" Sullivan - wonder if he picked best guy to be his new boss?

As we know, Minions aren't that smart, so little of green paint and fake horns seemed like a legit disguise.

I'm not sure what it supposed to be but hey, it's time for something different. Crazy colours and weird horns. Quite a quick painting, around hour or so (haven't finished listening to Paper Wings Show #33 yet). Also, below, a sketch it got my started on this thing.

Tower concepts this time, again something for my little personal game project. I think about using those as a save points. Still need to come up with more version, these are simply tests :)

Wreck-it Ralph is still one of my favourite animated movies (next to Despicable Me), so it was matter of time before I spent some quality time drawing studies from Art of Wreck-it Ralph book. So so good!
